Audi 01E Front Plate-Type Limited-Slip Differential
Self-locking, two-way plate-type front differential designed for the Audi 01E transmission.
Proven in demanding motorsport applications including rally, hill climb, circuit racing, and sprint competition.
The differential incorporates:
- 4 + 4 friction plates
- 1 Belleville spring
- 4 differential pinion gears
- 2 pinion shafts
- 2 ramp/pressure rings
- 2 side gears
- 2 axial thrust washers
The differential housing is manufactured from high-grade heat-treated CrMoV alloy steel and is nitrided for increased surface hardness and wear resistance.
The friction plates are manufactured from heat-treated CrMoV alloy steel, with the inner plates receiving an additional nitriding treatment.
The pinion shafts, differential pinions, and side gears are manufactured from high-strength case-hardening NiCrMo alloy steel.
Adjustable Ramp Configuration
The differential allows two acceleration-side ramp settings:
Acceleration: 38° or 33°
Deceleration: 80°
The standard supplied configuration is the proven motorsport setup:
100 Nm preload / 38° acceleration ramp
This configuration provides predictable locking characteristics under power while maintaining controlled differential action during deceleration.
